Update to qualifications in Wales from 2027
We would like to inform centres of planned changes to selected BTEC qualifications in Wales (pre 16 learners only).
From 31 July 2027, the following qualifications will be withdrawn from new registrations for 14–16-year-olds in Wales:
- BTEC Level 1 and Level 2 Home Cooking Skills
- BTEC Level 2 Leadership Through Sport
These qualifications will continue to be supported for currently registered learners through to final certification.
New qualifications from 2027
From September 2027, Pearson will offer the Skills for Life and Work qualifications, developed specifically for Wales.
