We hope you have all had a great start to the September term and are enjoying getting to know your students well and settling into the rigours of the academic year.
We hope you have everything you need to deliver your qualifications, please see our website as we are currently updating sample learner work for you and hopefully you will find something that is useful, especially if you are new to our qualifications.
New teaching and learning content
This month we have some produced some really useful content to help support you in your centres. One of our most popular offerings has been the A2 in 10 minutes recording for our BTEC Level 1 Introductory qualifications.
Produced by our excellent SSV Katie, this short 10-minute video goes through all the important information and key need to knows about the core unit for our qualifications. I thoroughly recommend a watch, especially if you are new to teaching or Level 1 Intro’s.
We have also added some further Sample Marked Learner Work for Level 1 Introductory across different subjects, including Science, Hospitality and Health and Social Care (as well as Vocational Studies) You can find these on our qualification’s pages under Internal Assessment.
Did you know?
In England for pre and post 16 most of our qualifications will be available until at least 2029 (Government changes permitting) giving you increased confidence in your delivery and planning for the future. They are not affected by Government Reform currently and these “BTEC’s” are not going anywhere.
Why not explore how you could pair BTEC Level 1 Hospitality with BTEC Home Cooking Skills, they make a great pairing for those centres who want to develop these skills in their young people, and they can both even support independent living.You can find out more about these qualifications below:

This session is aimed at teachers who are currently teaching or internally verifying the BTEC Level 1 Introductory qualification (17 pathways). Our trainer Katie will talk you through how to ensure your assessment is accurate in the classroom.

Our trainer Paul will talk you through how to ensure your assessment is accurate in the classroom, including different ways in which your learners could evidence the criteria.

Skills for Life and Work in Wales – Wave 3 First Teach September 2027

Did you know? If you are also teaching our BTEC Home Cooking Skills and BTEC Leadership Through Sport qualifications, you can easily move your provision across to this new qualification using many of your existing materials and we have two training sessions available to sign up for in December 2026 to help with this.
This session is aimed at teachers who are currently teaching or internally verifying the BTEC Home Cooking Skills qualifications in Wales for Pre 16 Learners. Our trainer Kelly will talk you through how to transition from our current BTEC Home Cooking Skills to our new Pearson Skills for Life and Work qualifications.
