In September 2015, George Osborne announced in the Budget that the government intends to introduce a levy to support the delivery, funding and achievement of apprenticeships in England, including reaching the 3 million target.
The levy, which would be applicable to 'larger' employers, will see a percentage of the employer's staff turnover being paid to the Treasury via HMRC.
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) launched a consultation shortly after the budget announcement to gain views from across employers and other stakeholders. This consultation has now closed.
