Apprenticeship Standards Propulsion Technician
About the role
Propulsion Technicians are responsible for the testing of existing and new propulsion technologies including internal combustion engines, hybrid and electric propulsion technology and advanced control systems. This apprenticeship is designed as a 42 month programme.
Propulsion Technicians can be involved in the following roles:
- Battery build and testing
- Emissions testing and analysis
- Engine testing
- Powertrain testing
- Product analysis and verification activities
- Engine build and process activities
Activities can include the following:
- Lead the preparation and installation activities for testing
- Check and monitor the test to ensure that it is carried out under the specified conditions
- Lead the diagnosis and analysis of any faults on units under test
Adhering to the quality criteria such as setting working clearances and torque clearances
