Summer 2026 student surveys for GCSE and A level History
We are keen to hear from Edexcel History students about their experiences of studying our qualifications and sitting exams this summer. We’ve created two surveys and we’d be grateful if you could encourage your students to complete them before the end of term to help give us more insight into our qualifications and assessments. In the past we used similar surveys with students and got some fantastic feedback which helped feed into our GCSE History assessment changes. We will also share some of this information in training events.
Summer 2026 general qualifications and assessment teacher feedback
To enable us to improve the experience of teachers using our qualifications and students sitting our exams, we gather feedback after each exam series. If you're a teacher, and your students have taken any of our exams in the May/June 2026 series, we are eager to hear your thoughts. On the link below you can find separate teacher surveys for GCSE, International GCSE, A level and IAL.
One step closer to specification reform: HA conference workshop materials
On 15 May 2026 we ran a session looking ahead to GCSE History specification reform at the HA conference in Newcastle. The workshop focused on the key points from the Curriculum and Assessment Review which are relevant to History teachers and gave teachers an opportunity to discuss some of these issues in depth and provide feedback. We want to thank all the teachers who attended our session! If you weren’t able to attend you can now view the slides and there’s still an opportunity to provide us with feedback via a survey which is included in the materials below:
New resources from Teaching Indigenous Histories and Perspectives in Schools
TIHPS are delighted to announce that the first teaching resources from the Teaching Indigenous Histories and Perspectives in Schools (TIHPS) project have been launched! Created by teachers in partnership with Indigenous advisors and the TIHPS team, the free KS3 resources include teacher advice, lesson plans, task resources, and videos. Their first scheme draws together material culture, oral and written accounts to encourage students to ask 'Why do different kinds of histories matter?' helping students to understand how ways of telling and understanding history differ and why multiple interpretations of the past exist. The second scheme on Indigenous Tudors introduces students to the Indigenous American peoples who were brought to England in the sixteenth century, using diverse sources to think about inclusive, ethical, complex histories.
They suggest that you start by looking at the resource overviews which outline the schemes, their LOs, and other key information. The creators have kindly supplied their contact details for colleagues thinking of teaching the scheme, and Professor Caroline Pennock and other members of the TIHPS team are available to answer your questions or offer a (free) workshop, meeting or online chat to any colleague, school or trust who would like some support in teaching Indigenous histories. Further resources, including supporting videos, will be launched soon! If you would like to join the TIHPS mailing list or friendly WhatsApp community, please contact Caroline.

A new documentary series on the campaign to secure Nelson Mandela’s release is coming to Channel 4 this month, and may be of interest to both teachers and students who are studying the History of South Africa. New YouTube resource from the Britain Palestine Project on History of Middle East
The Britain Palestine Project (formerly the Balfour Project) have made a new film which covers the history of Israel-Palestine from 1948 to 1979.
From the Nakba to Camp David is the ‘sequel’ to their 18 minute Britain in Palestine, continuing the story through the defining decades that shaped the conflict we see today. Drawing on archival footage and historical testimony, the film traces the period from the Nakba of 1948 through to the Camp David Accords — exploring displacement, war, diplomacy, and the political decisions that continue to resonate today.
Economic History Society – interviews with Historians
The Economic History Society has released a series of interviews with some of the leading figures in Economic History and they are available to watch via their website.
