Following our recent announcement of changes to the Edexcel GCSE History assessment for 2025 exams, we have now made available a detailed guidance document which contains details of the changes along with exemplification.

June 2024 History Subject Update
This update contains useful information, news and advice for Edexcel History teachers, including changes to the Edexcel GCSE History specification content for first teaching September 2024, first assessment Summer 2026. There is also an opportunity for you and your students to provide us with feedback on this summer’s exams.

Edexcel GCSE History 2026 content changes
Following a thorough and comprehensive review of our GCSE History assessment model, we are now ready to move on to the next stage of improvements which focus on changes to the specification content. Issue 6 of the specification is now available on our website, for first teaching September 2024, first assessment 2026. This update is to inform you of the content changes we are making and to outline the guidance that is available to support you.
