April 2015 update
This month's update includes information on SFA 19+ funding, qualification extensions and withdrawals and the sector development forums.
SFA approve 19+ funding for BTEC Level 1 qualifications in Safe Road Skills and Attitudes
We're pleased that our appeal to the SFA to continue funding the following 2qualifications for 19+ learners in 2015/16 was successful:
- 500/9801/9 - Pearson BTEC Level 1 Award in Safe Road Skills and Attitudes (QCF)
- 500/9802/0 - Pearson BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Safe Road Skills and Attitudes (QCF)
These qualifications were developed in partnership with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. The aim of the qualifications is to make a positive contribution to road safety by educating road users and changing attitudes, building a sense of personal responsibility and promoting a mature attitude to risk and safety issues. The qualifications can be used alongside licence acquisition, with the Certificate size allowing learners to sit a shorter version of the Theory Test for Drivers. The shorter version of the test is called the Abridged Theory Test.

Transport and Logistics Sector Development Forum: 4 June 2015
On Thursday 4 June 2015, we'll be hosting a free-to-attend Sector Development Forum. This sector forum is for all transport and logistics practitioners and/or key decision makers who ffer or are looking to offer work-based learning qualifications, including Apprenticeships. It's designed to keep you up to date with qualification and service developments within the sector, including Trailblazer activity. Spaces are limited.
Withdrawal of Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Operational Support in the Bus and Coach Industry
The Pearson Edexcel Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Operational Support in the Bus and Coach Industry (QCF) (600/0078/8) will be withdrawn from 30 September 2015 due to no/low demand. The last certification date will be 30 September 2016.
