Update your POP software to avoid disruption to onscreen testing

A new version of the Pearson Onscreen Platform (POP) software for offline/online testing is now available.

This update adds a digital signature, so you can install the software in cyber secure environments. Without it, some devices may block installation.

To keep delivering offline or online onscreen tests without issues, you’ll need to update the software on all testing devices.

What you need to do

  • Remove older versions - Uninstall any previous POP Offline software from your devices
  • Install the latest version (7.0.7583.5) - Download and install the new version using the link below
  • Check all testing machines - Make sure the software is installed on every device used for testing, including those accessed via the Assessor Dashboard (PAD).

Download and install

Use the link below to access the installation guide and download the latest software.

Learner images

A reminder that the requirements for learner images can be found on page 50 of the Security Centre Management Handbook.  The SIA has asked us to remind centres that photographs must be taken against a white background.

Use of self-study

Get Training states the self-study materials ‘must clearly show learners how many hours of learning they are expected to undertake.  They must be given sufficient time to allow its completion before their course begins.  The centre must check during training to ensure that appropriate learning has taken place.'

This means that:

  • If learners are completing ACT Awareness and ACT Security e-learning, it should be completed ‘before the course begins’.  Certificates should therefore be dated accordingly.
  • If workbooks are used to confirm understanding of the self-study materials, these must be marked and any areas of inaccuracy addressed with the learner.
  • It is best practice to review the content of the self-study materials during the face-to-face delivery to ensure that the appropriate learning has taken place and that learners have retained and understood the information.
