Retention of Video Recordings: Change to the retention duration
We have previously advised you that the retention period of all video recordings of practical assessments has been reduced to 1 year.
The SIA have now published the updated version of Get Training to reflect this change. Please download the updated version from their website.

You must take video recordings of practical assessments unless the learner is under 18 years of age (see 'Age restrictions for qualifications' above). Video recordings must be retained for a minimum of 1 year for audit purposes.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 Award for Professional Investigators
Please be advised that the last registration date for the Pearson BTEC Level 3 Award for Professional Investigators has been set for 30 June 2022. The last certification date is 30 June 2025. This qualification will not be replaced.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 Certificate for Working as a Close Protection Operative in the Private Security Industry
Please be advised that the last registration date for the Pearson BTEC Level 3 Certificate for Working as a Close Protection Operative in the Private Security Industry is 31 March 2022. The last certification date is 31 August 2022.
A replacement qualification will be available for registration from 1 April 2022.
The new qualification will include the Physical Intervention unit currently in the Level 2 Door Supervision qualification; the Principles of Terror Threat Awareness unit currently in the Level 2 Door Supervision and Security Officer Top Up qualifications, a new Physical Intervention for Close Protection unit and a new unit covering key knowledge relating to the door supervisor role required for Close Protection Operatives. More information about the new qualification will be available in the New Year.
