Reminder for centres delivering Upskilling Door Supervisors

Centres are reminded that the Pearson BTEC Level 2 Award for Upskilling Door Supervisors within the Private Security Industry is only for learners who already hold a Door Supervisor licence but need to complete refresher training in order to renew their licence with the SIA. This applies to learners who hold a licence linked Door Supervision qualification that was issued pre 2010 (i.e. the qualification did not include Physical Intervention).

Learners who hold any other SIA licence, e.g. Security Guard or CCTV Operator, and want to apply for a Door Supervisor licence must complete the Pearson BTEC Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry. They will not be able to apply for their Door Supervisor licence if they only hold the Upskilling qualification.

Centres are reminded that it is their responsibility to check that all learners who wish to enrol on the Upskilling qualification already hold the appropriate Door Supervisor licence before they start the course. If they do not hold the appropriate qualification the learner must not be registered on the Upskilling qualification and must be directed to the Pearson BTEC Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry qualification.
