Protective Services update - January 2020

Extension of QCF Public Services

We have extended our current BTEC Level 3 Public Services QCF (2010) suite of qualifications in England, N. Ireland and Wales:

• Pearson BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Public Services 500/7840/9
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Public Services 500/7862/8
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 90-credit Diploma in Public Services 600/3891/3
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Public Services 500/7867/7
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services 500/7801/

The last registration date will be 31 August 2021, and the last certification date will be 31 August 2022.

New Protective Services Qualifications

In the uniformed protective services sector these qualifications are:

• Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Certificate in Uniformed Protective Services (603/5065/9)
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Uniformed Protective Services (603/5067/2) 
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services (603/5069/6) 
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services (603/5066/0) Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services (603/5068/4). 
• The Certificate (180 GLH), Extended Certificate (360 GLH), Foundation Diploma (510 GLH)

These qualifications are available for teaching from 01 January 2020 and we are currently developing supporting materials.

Extension to the Fire Suite Qualifications

Please note that the following qualifications will be extended until 31 July 2020:

• Pearson BTEC Level 2 Award in Fire and Rescue Services in the Community
• Pearson BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Fire and Rescue Services in the Community
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 Award In Compartment Fire Behaviour Training
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 Certificate In Compartment Fire Behaviour Training
• Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Emergency Fire and Rescue Services Operations in the Community
• Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Award in Initial Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services
• Pearson Edexcel Level 4 Award in Intermediate Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services
• Pearson Edexcel Level 6 Award in Advanced Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services
• Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors)
• Pearson Edexcel Level 4 Certificate in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors)
• Pearson Edexcel Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (Fire Inspectors)

Please note that the following qualification will be extended until 31 December 2020 and will remain available within the SASE/W frameworks:

• Pearson Edexcel Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Emergency Fire Services Operations in the Community
• Emergency Fire Services Control Operations (L3)
• Emergency Fire Services Watch Management (L3)
• Extension of Teamwork and Personal Development Suite

The following qualifications have been extended until 31 July 2020

• Pearson BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community
• Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community
• Pearson BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community
• Pearson BTEC Level 1 Award in Teamwork and Personal Skills for Uniformed Youth Organisations
• Pearson BTEC Level 1 Award in Teamwork and Personal Skills in the Community
• Pearson BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Teamwork and Personal Skills for Uniformed Youth Organisations
• Pearson BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Teamwork and Personal Skills in the Community

It is our intention to review and update the suite.  We intend for the new suite to be available for registration from 1 September 2020.

Pearson BTEC Security Suite withdrawal from Scotland

We will be withdrawing our Security suite of qualifications from Scotland from 31 March 2020. The following qualifications are being withdrawn:

• R32/2 04 SA 13628 Upskilling Door Supervisors
• R43/3 0/4 SA 20525 Working as a CCTV operator [Public Space Surveillance] Level 6
• R43/2 0/4 SA 20523 Working as a door supervisor within private security industry Level 6
• R43/0 0/4 SA 20524 Working A  security officer within private security industry

The  last registration date for these qualifications will be 31 March 2020 when they will be withdrawn. The final certification date will be 31 August 2020.
