SVQ extensions

All Pearson hospitality SVQs have now been extended until 31 January 2016. The previous date stated, June 2016, was an error on the SQA website which has now been corrected.

QCF extensions and withdrawals

Please see the August update for details of which qualifications have been extended and which will be withdrawn at the end of 2014.

Apprenticeship frameworks

The component qualifications of the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Hospitality Retail Outlet Supervision have been added to the Hospitality SASE framework document. Funding for these qualifications has been published on The Hub (SFA)

The MAS codes (allowing one-click registration for all components of the Apprenticeship) for this framework have been added to Edexcel Online. We're currently looking into ensuring auto–approval is available on EOL for centres that already deliver level 3 hospitality BTEC and competency-based qualifications.

Case studies

As part of Pearson’s desire to lead on efficacy, we are looking at ways to demonstrate that our qualifications and BTEC Apprenticeships have had a measurable impact on our learners and employers. We want to create some case studies to showcase the achievements of employees and hear about the benefits those achievements can bring to both the person taking the WBL programme and the organisation they are working for. Hospitality Trailblazers

Two of the 4 hospitality Trailblazer standards were signed off by BIS last month:

  • Senior Chef: Production Cooking
  • Senior Chef: Culinary Arts. 

The remaining 2 will be resubmitted in October. The Trailblazer group will be meeting shortly to discuss how these standards will be assessed.
