Trailblazer

People 1st has extended its consultation on the assessment plans for Commis Chef and Chef de Partie. The consultation will run until the end of July (although the document on the People 1st website still says 29 May). You can find more details and access the consultation questionnaires using the links below.

Please send your response to trailblazer@people1st.co.uk by completing this questionnaire.

People 1st is also currently conducting a consultation on independent end assessment and governance of apprenticeships in the sector. Please see this consultation here.

Similar consultations will shortly be available for hospitality team member, hospitality supervisor and hospitality manager.

The assessment plans for all hospitality trailblazers will be submitted on 27 August.

Pearson will be working with the trailblazer group in July to create grading criteria for the chef standards which will then allow us to start working on the assessment tools for this programme.

The trailblazer group currently expect the first registrations on the new apprenticeships in the first few months of 2016 with the first independent end assessment taking place early 2017.

We will give you any updates and implementation plans as soon as they're available.

People 1st webinar

People 1st will be hosting a Webinar on 7 July 2015 which will give an update on the hospitality trailblazer and the National Occupational Standards Review.

The webinar will run from 10-11.30 a.m. and will cover two areas:

  • Hospitality Trailblazers - An update on the trailblazer’s activities and guidance on timescales for the implementation of the new apprenticeship standards
  • Review of Hospitality National Occupational Standards (NOS)

A summary of the consultation process to review the full suite of hospitality NOS. The review will take into account the work of the hospitality trailblazer to develop apprenticeship standards.

If you would like to join the webinar please register here

19+ Funding

We were able to submit 10 hospitality qualifications on 4 June to the Skills Funding Agency. This activity was to secure funding for 19+ learners taking the qualifications outside of an apprenticeship. We will find out if our submissions were successful in the first week of July.
