July 2015 work-based learning and colleges update
This month's update includes information on Trailblazers, 19+ funding and new qualifications.
Trailblazers
Over the last week, we have been working with the Trailblazer group to determine the grading criteria and minimum criteria (similar to the evidence requirements within NVQs) for the chef standards. Similar work for the other standards will follow.
The assessment plans for most hospitality Trailblazers will be submitted on 27 August, with the remainder being submitted on 15 October.
The Trailblazer group is expecting the first registrations on the new apprenticeships in the first few months of 2016, with the first independent end assessment taking place early in 2017. Remember, there are no mandatory qualifications for the hospitality Trailblazers. Employers and providers will have the choice about how they support the learner to achieve the standard.
At the moment there are very few further details other than those which have been shared previously, but we expect much more information to be available in next month's update, such as grading criteria, implementation plans and minimum requirements. We'll also be sharing some plans to support the on-programme assessment phase, which is the 12 months before the independent end assessment.
19+ funding
All 10 of the qualifications we submitted to the SFA last month were successful, and funding will be available for the following qualifications for 2015/16 whether they are taken as part of an apprenticeship or as a stand-alone qualification.

Coming soon: New qualifications for the full time FE market
We're in the process of developing the following qualifications for the FE market. The qualifications will be accredited for September 2015 and we will be submitting the qualifications for both 16-18 and 19+ funding where appropriate.
