We have recently updated both the Pearson BTEC Level 4 Certificate for First Person on Scene and Pearson BTEC Level 4 Extended Certificate for First Person on Scene to align its requirements with the PHEM Skills Framework.

Key changes include:

  • Section 5 General resource requirements updated 

    • Centre delivery to meet the learners needs, with a maximum trainer to learner ratio of 1:6 

    • It is a requirement of the qualification and Royal College of Surgeons approval that during learner assessment, there must be 2 qualified assessors present, or a qualified assessor and IQA present 

  • Section 7 Delivery guidance updated 

    • Centre delivery to meet the learners needs, with a maximum trainer to learner ratio of 1:6 

  • Unit 5 - Video recording and the Data Protection Regulations added in the specification- these were originally documented in the centre guidance document 

  • Section 8 Assessment updated Certification validity has been added 

  • Section 11 Quality assurance of centres updated The role of the Standards Verifier (SV) and How are the standards of practical skills verified?. These were originally documented in the centre guidance document and have now been added to the specification 

  • Appendix 1 has been added to clarify Occupational knowledge and competence for Trainers, Assessors and Internal Quality assurers involved in the delivery, assessment and quality assurance of First Person on Scene
