2022/23 Assessments

Requirements for assessments will return to the specification requirements and there are no adaptations planned for this academic year. This means that internal assessments that take place this academic year must assess the cirteria and learning aims fully. External assessments are planned to go ahead and will return to pre-pandemic arrangements with no adaptations to assessment windows. The final timetable is available for January external assessments and a provisional timetalbe is available for summer 2023 external assessments. BTEC Tech Award in Music Practice (2022)

Learners starting on the BTEC Tech Award in Music Practice this academic year must be registered on the course by 1 November 2022. The registration code is RMP3. There are detailed instructions on making registrations online.

For internally assessed components, there are two assessment windows each academic year. The first runs from October to the submission deadline of 15 December and the second runs from the release of the brief in February until the submission deadline on 1 May.

You can choose which assessment window to use for your learners for each component. You should ensure that learners are fully prepared before taking an assessment.

Although the briefs were released on 3 October for submission by 15 December, it is not expected that most centres will use this for assessment this acadeemic year. This is due to the short teaching time before the release of the brief. Unless delivery of the content was sufficient throughout year 9, then it is unlikely that content would have been covered in enough detail to prepare for the assessment.

The registration deadline for the 15 December submission is 18 October. After this date late fees will apply. The deadline for entry in to the series submitted by 1 May is 21 February 2023.
