BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care
Changes to the specification and assessment
After listening to teacher feedback and getting approval from the DfE, we have been able to make some changes to the Tech Award in Health and Social Care.
What’s been updated?
You’ll notice updates in:
- Teaching content for components 1, 2 and 3
- The assessment of component 1, task 2
The updates are listed in the table at the beginning of the specification
When should I start using the new version?
Right away. The updated specification is live now, and it’s important to start using it from June 2025 for learners already on the course.
September 2025 for new learners starting fresh.
Learners who took final assessments in May/June 2025 will not be affected by these changes.
Make sure to download the latest version and swap out any older copies you’re still using.
The Sample PSAs for Component 1 have been updated to reflect assessment changes, which will apply from the December/January 2025/26 series (being released on June 2, 2025).
The marking grid for Component 1, Task 2 has also been revised and available as a separate download. Please ensure you use the updated version for all assessments from September 2025 onward.
