We are sharing the recommendations we made to the Curriculum and Assessment review so that together we can build an even better approach to GCSE Geograph by:
- Achieving the right balance of breadth and depth of understanding
- Developing an up-to-date and balanced understanding of 21st century challenges
- Creating culturally responsive and representative content and assessments
- Making space in the subject content for flexible and non-core content
- Rethinking the current methods of assessment
- Reviewing the level of demand of fieldwork assessment
Want to get involved?
Join one of our workshops in June to have your say. These events will be interactive and hands-on, a chance to hear our recommendations for future geography qualifications, listen to feedback from others, and share your views.
The workshops will take place on Thursday 19 June at 2.30pm and Wednesday 25 June at 2.30pm and will be held on MS Teams.

Geography in the News aims to stimulate discussion about the relevance of geography and its importance in helping us to make sense of the world around us. In this edition we have selected an article warning that melting Arctic ice is accelerating climate change and creating new security threats for the UK.

As communicated previously, we confirmed a change to the marking guidance for 2-mark 'calculate' questions for GCSE Geography A and B.
To ensure these question types are accessible and fair to all candidates, we have extended this change to cover all of our Pearson Edexcel Geography qualifications:
- AS Geography
- A level Geography
- International GCSE Geography
- International AS/A level Geography
- GCSE Geography A and Geography B
Please note you do not need to change anything you are doing in your delivery or prepare your students differently for 2025 exams and beyond.
This course has been developed for teachers of Pearson Edexcel GCSE Geography A and B and aims to build your confidence in creating interesting and engaging fieldwork experience
This course would be ideal for Early Career Teachers and those aspiring to a Head of Department role, but it would be suitable for anyone looking to build their confidence and understanding of what makes great geography fieldwork.
No Short Cuts
At this time of year, awarding organisations receive lots of reports about websites and social media accounts claiming to have 2025 live assessment material available for sale (exam papers, mark schemes). We wanted to take this opportunity to remind our centres that any student found to have accessed or participated in the sharing of 'leaked' examination material will receive sanctions. Help us to protect the integrity of our assessments by reporting these accounts. Contact us via pqsmalpractice@pearson.com
Exam Feedback Surveys
Later this month, we will be sending out our 2025 Exam Feedback Surveys, feedback from these surveys help us to improve the experience of teachers using our qualifications and students sitting our exams. Your feedback is important to us so keep an eye on your inbox for the survey link.
