Welcome to the April update!

In this update we have the latest guidance from the JCQ regarding the use of AI in assessments.  This is likely to be very important for all teachers and learners and will probably give rise to discussions with your learners.

We also have the latest news from esports education, the level 3 reforms and BTEC assessment where you will find links to our new AABs for both our Level 3 and Level 2 Esports qualifications.

AI Use in Assessments: Protecting the Integrity of Qualifications

On 28 March 2023, the Joint Council for qualifications published guidance about the use of artifical intelligence (AI) in assessments.

The JCQ AI Use in Assessments: Protecting the Integrity of Qualifications guidance is intended to provide teachers and assessors involved in delivering JCQ qualifications with the important information they need to manage the use of AI in assessments.

This guidance applies to all our qualifications including BTEC qualifications.

As part of the Level 3 Vocational Qualification reforms we would like to invite you to help influence the next generation of BTEC Nationals. We want to ensure we capture the teacher and learner voice in our qualifications and support materials.

BTEC National in Esports briefing session: latest developments around the reforms at Level 3

This event will provide you with the latest information on developments around the reforms at Level 3 and will also provide an opportunity to get your views and insight to help us shape our qualification(s) and support offer in ways that best meet you and your learners’ needs.

The sessions will be managed by the sector team leading on the redevelopment of our qualifications at Level 3 and will provide you with an opportunity to ask questions. This event is for UK centres only.

The funding guides below for 16-19 year olds give you a comprehensive view of funding for 2022/23 – 2024/25. This will give you clarity on how the recent updates on funding for BTEC Level 3 affect your centre and learners.

These guides take us up to the cohort starting in September 2024.

Please note that the situation in England, Northern Ireland and Wales is not necessarily the same for all sectors so please do check the correct file.

So, you can continue to teach your BTECs in Esports with confidence in 2023/24 and 2024/25. Learners will be funded until completion for any courses they start.

For 2025 and beyond, we are working through the implications for each of our BTEC qualifications in all sector suites and we will update all our centres where there are any changes to content, availability, and funding for BTECs.

 

 

BTEC Assessment

We now have a full set of Authorised Assignment Briefs for the BTEC Nationals in Esports

We now have new schemes of learning to fill in the gaps in the schemes of work so that every unit is now covered.

We now have a full set of Authorised Assignment Briefs for the BTEC Level 2 in Esports

The teaching, learning and assessment page for 2022-23 will keep you up to date with the latest news and information to support you delivering BTEC qualifications.

Once a learner has completed all units, you can report the learner's achievement and make the overall award claim to receive the relevant certification document.
