The DfE has also confirmed that students taking GCSEs, AS and A levels will not be provided with advance information on the focus of exams next summer. In line with this, we will not be providing advance information for our International GCSEs in 2023.
Whatever your reason for considering becoming an examiner for Pearson Edexcel, a role within a subject assessment team can help develop your subject knowledge to better prepare students for high stakes assessments, improve your own teaching and learning approaches in the classroom, and can give you a chance to network and collaborate with other Economics teachers. Over time, there are opportunities to progress into the role of team leader, where you can develop the key skills needed to manage a team.
Economics is a very popular subject in UK schools and colleges and we are looking to expand our assessment teams to meet a growing demand. We would therefore welcome existing and newly trained teachers to apply to join Pearson Edexcel as an Assessment Associate (AA).

1. New(ish) teachers: Marking, Exam standards and Revision
This brand-new course targets new teachers of A Level Business and Economics. There will be one session reflecting on lessons learnt from the Autumn Term, but the main focus is on the second half of the year. Ian has lots of A Level student answers that will be marked and analysed. One session will allow delegates to choose whether to focus on marking Business or Economics. Then what do A grade scripts look like? And how to get more of them? Plus practice with Ian Marcouse’s revision materials – which delegates will take away on their course memory stick. This course is ideal for NQTs or Teach First participants – or those who have recently switched to teaching Business or Economics.
London Hallam Street (near Oxford Circus) Friday January 13th 2023 or Online Jan 16th
2. Edexcel Business Pre-released task for 2023.
Ian has had a lot of experience researching, writing and analysing case material. Furthermore, he’s written more than 40 A Level exam papers and can see how the pre-released material relates to exam questions. He’ll prepare Powerpoints, case studies and plenty of mock exam questions and mark schemes/answers based on the new task.
All the materials will be on the complimentary memory stick – handed to those doing the full day course and posted to those taking it online. The plan is simple: help your students to get better results and stop you getting side-tracked by the research required. The 2023 task is turned into a revision programme.

3. Edexcel Economics Spec B Pre-released task for 2023.
Ian’s experience with Spec B goes back to the earliest meetings on the original Nuffield Project. Since then he’s had a lot of experience researching, writing and analysing cases in Economics and Business. He’s written more than 40 A Level exam papers and can therefore see how the pre-released material relates to exam questions. He’ll prepare Powerpoints, case studies and plenty of mock exam questions and mark schemes/answers based on the 2023 task.

This will be the last January International GCSE series.
We're introducing a regular International GCSE November series, first running in November 2023. This series is being introduced to best meet the needs of students requiring International GCSE exam opportunities outside of the full May/June series and it will replace the existing January series.
There will be no November series in 2022.
Please take a look at the timeline in the document below.
