Results days for the Summer 2017 series

Results day for Summer 2017 series are as follows:

Qualification Date
A level 17 August 2017
GCSe, Edexcel Certificates and International GCSEs 24 August 2017

Moderator/Examiner reports

From results day you can download centre-specific moderator feedback for all your coursework and controlled assessment units (E9) as well as examier reports for examiner units. To find out how to do this please read the guidance below.

Your moderator writes a report to explain where it was necessary to adjust your centre’s marks. Where possible, your moderator advises you on how you could make improvements for future series.

Two report options are available:

  • a single document, which includes moderator reports for all subjects
  • an individual subject report.
You can find these on Edexcel Online. Please speak to your examinations officer if you don't have access to Edexcel Online.

There is a useful video showing how to access your moderator report on edexcel online. See below.

The Principal Moderator also compiles a report on how candidates performed in this year’s examinations. It provides general feedback and highlights good approaches that can be taken forward to future examination series.

You can find these reports on ResultsPlus. Please speak to your examinations officer if you don't have access to ResultsPlus.

If you're not happy with your students' results this summer, you should take the following steps:

  • For coursework or controlled assessment, download your school or college's individual E9 moderator report from Edexcel Online.
  • For examiner units, log in to ResultsPlus for an instant and detailed analysis of your students' exam performance. See how they have performed on every question and compare their performance to the national average.
  • You can download a copy of the Principal Examiner's Report for each paper from ResultsPlus on results day. They will be available on the relevant qualification page shortly after results day.
  • If, having checked ResultsPlus and the relevant mark schemes and examiners' reports, you're still unhappy with your students' results, you may apply for a review of marking via our post-results services.

Visit the Post-results services page for more information

Concerns about an entire class

Significant under-marking on a paper does not happen often, but if an issue is identified, we will always seek to address it via an 'extended review of marking'.

You will need to submit a representative sample of about 10% of the centre’s total cohort (a minimum of 8 candidates). Very large centres need not submit more than 20 requests. At least half the sample would need to see mark changes of more than 5% of the total raw mark (not the uniform mark) for the paper for an extension to be agreed.

Where we initiate an extended review of marking, centres will not be charged a fee.

After the summer 2017 results are published in August, you will be able to view and download scripts which have been marked online free of charge from our Self-Service Portal.

This service will be available for GCSE and A level Design and Technology qualifications.

Availability

The Self-Service Portal will be available until the final Access to Script deadline for each exam series, so for summer 2017 this is Thursday 28 September 2017. You should save and/or print any scripts you need by this deadline.

The Portal can only be accessed by Edexcel Online users who have the Exam Viewer profile ticked on Edexcel Online.

Please note that these scripts will not contain examiners' annotations.

Scripts which have not been marked online

If scripts have been marked "traditionally" (i.e. not online), you will have to request them via the Post Results section of Edexcel Online as in previous exam series.

These scripts will also be free of charge, but the final dates to request them will be the same as the JCQ Access to Scripts deadlines.

Candidate consent

Candidate consent is required before requesting script copies, as per section 6.2.1 of the JCQ's Post-results services guide. Candidate consent can only be obtained after results have been published. You can access the JCQ`s Post-results services guide below.
