BTEC Level 1 and Level 2 First in Art and Design

There are three methods of reporting results, through Edexcel Online, EDI/A2C or by Student Report Form (SRF). There are significant advantages in reporting results electronically in terms of the speed at which we can process the results in time for your preferred certification deadline.

This is a rolling-programme of dates, however, in order to issue certificates in August, results should be reported by Friday the 21 of July 2017, for submissions made via Edexcel Online or EDI.

It is particularly important that, for learners who have made applications to HEIs through UCAS, results are reported by the 21 July 2017, if submitting electronically, even where the learner is retaking assessments and or tests, so that HEIs have information on each applicant.

Post-Results Services

Find out what support and guidance is available for your BTEC Level 1 and Level 2 First in Art and Design results.

Post-results review of moderation for internally assessed/externally moderated controlled assessment and coursework components (EAR3)

Where we've adjusted centre marks during moderation, this service check that our moderator has made an accurate judgement on the centre’s ability to mark the work to the national standard. This includes:

  • a review of the original moderation by a senior moderator
  • feedback with a similar level of detail to the original moderator report.
A review of moderation (EAR3) replicates the original moderation process and therefore the same sample will need to be available for review. Any mark changes may impact all candidates completing this component at the centre in the current exam session.

If your students haven’t got the grades you were expecting for the external assessment, reviewing the question paper, mark scheme and examiner report will help to explain how marks were awarded and provide information on how learners performed on the paper/s.

Where a certification claim has been made for an NQF BTEC qualification, but the learner wants to resit an externally assessed unit to improve their grade, you firstly need to decline their overall qualification grade. You may decline the grade before the certificate is issued; for a learner receiving their results in August, you should decline the grade by emailing the request to examsofficers@pearson.com before the end of September if the learner intends to resit an external assessment.

After certification, learners who want to reject the grade(s) achieved must make a request to decline the grade(s) through their centre. These requests need to be made within five weeks of the certification issue date. You'll need to return all certification documentation to us, along with a covering letter explaining why the grade(s) should be declined.

We'll process all requests that we receive within five weeks of the certification issue date free of charge. If you make a request after that, we can only accept it while the learner registration and programme approval is still valid and we will charge a duplicate certificate fee.

Learners can resit external units in the next series – please refer to the provisional timetables.

At the moment you can enter students for resits of an external unit as many times as you wish. However, Ofqual are closely monitoring this, and the situation may change in the future.

The Lead Examiner report will be available on the qualification page on results day. To allow time for 'Enquiries About Results' services for the externally assessed components of the qualification, certificates will be sent at the same time as A level and GCSE certificates to arrive in centres before 31 October 2017.

Post-results review of marking of externally assessed components (EAR2).

A check that our examiners have marked externally assessed components correctly. This includes:

  • the clerical check (EAR1) service
  • a review of marking of units/components by a senior examiner.
You can request us to review the marking of exam papers for individual candidates and the results for each candidate will be reported separately. This service isn't available for internally assessed/externally moderated coursework components.

If your students haven’t got the grades you were expecting for the external assessment, reviewing the question paper, mark scheme and examiner report will help to explain how marks were awarded and provide information on how learners performed on the paper(s).
