3 December 2018

As you may already be aware, the Department for Education (DfE) have decided not to approve the Level 2 Certificate in Digital Applications (CiDA) for the KS4 Performance Tables in 2020. As a result, we have taken the difficult decision to withdraw the CiDA and DiDA suite of qualifications as of June 2020.

This means the last assessment opportunity will be Summer 2020 for the following qualifications:

Qualification Number Title Level
601/3256/5 Certificate in Digital Applications (CiDA) Level 1
601/3257/7 Diploma in Digital Applications (DiDA) Level 1
600/6627/1 Certificate in Digital Applications (CiDA) Level 2
601/4650/3 Diploma in Digital Applications (DiDA) Level 2

We have two alternative qualifications available. Both qualifications are on KS4 performance tables, and like CiDA/DiDA they contain a mix of internal and external assessment:

The DfE released Technical Guidance that affected all vocational qualifications at KS4. As a result learners entered for assessment from January 2019 onwards are now only allowed one resit opportunity for the external unit (DA201: CiDA Level 2). The CiDA specification has now been updated to reflect this change (pages 81, 89) and will soon be on our website to view. Guidance on the new resit rules is available on our website.

Please note, there will be no resit opportunities available after the Summer 2020 series. We are communicating this decision as early as possible so that you can plan accordingly
