All the BTECs we submitted for this category will count on the 2017 performance tables for 16-19 students in England.
This means continuity for everyone teaching these BTEC subjects at level 3, as all the BTEC qualifications approved for the 2017 list were also on the 2016 list.

On 18 December 2014, the DfE released the list of qualifications that will be included in the Applied General category for performance measures in 2017.
We already had BTECs on the Applied General “interim” list, and are delighted that the qualifications we submitted for inclusion have all been accepted. This includes BTECs in the following sectors:
- Applied Science
- Business
- Health and Social Care
- IT
- Performing Arts
- Sport.

Updated – February 2015
The DfE has accepted 23 BTECs in 9 subject areas as Technical Certificates for the 2017 performance tables.
It also rejected 14 BTECs in 7 subject areas, and we appealed these decisions.
Results of appeal
We appealed the decision not to include 7 BTEC Firsts submitted for the Technical Certificate and we can now confirm that, unfortunately, the DfE has rejected our appeal, upholding its original decision.
We are working hard to find a solution that means you can continue to offer BTEC Firsts in these areas and still be recognised for the achievements of your learners. We’ll update our website with this information as soon as we can.
