Update on Level 3 BTEC results in England for summer 2025

17 July 2025

Our absolute priority is to deliver overall BTEC qualification grades to students expecting them on 14 August. Pearson, like other awarding organisations, works in partnership with colleges and schools to deliver overall qualification grades to eligible students.

We are grateful to the thousands of colleges and schools who have provided us with the information we needed by our published deadline and appreciate their hard work to reach this milestone.

5 July was our final deadline for colleges and schools to submit the two vital pieces of information we need to complete eligibility checks and award BTEC qualification grades to their students in August:

  • a qualification claim for learners they told us are expecting to receive a result this summer
  • the marks for learner coursework assessed by their teachers and tutors, which accounts for around 60% of the final grade.

As of 15 July, some colleges and schools, who offer Level 3 BTEC National qualifications in England, have not yet provided us with the information we need to complete eligibility checks and award qualification grades for some of their students. This means that 2,321 BTEC National Level 3 registrations at 221 colleges and schools are currently ineligible and therefore not on track to receive an overall qualification grade in August.

We expect the number of ineligible results to continue to fall, but are highlighting this now, well ahead of results day, as there is still time to resolve the situation.

Colleges and schools who deliver BTECs can access their student information, confirming which students are on track to receive their BTEC qualification results in August and flagging those where they need to take action.

We want to reassure students, parents and carers that, even though our 5 July deadline has passed, we are doing everything we can to support these colleges and schools to obtain the information we need and award results to eligible learners in August. This includes appointing a dedicated member of staff to continue to work with each college or school and sending them expert teams to support them on-site where needed.
