Employers send their congratulations to the 200,000 BTEC students receiving their Level 3 results today

LONDON – 14 August 2025 – Pearson (FTSE: PSON.L) and a wide range of employers congratulated the 200,000 students receiving Level 3 BTEC results today.  These skilled young people will now progress into apprenticeships, higher or further education, or full-time employment, many in key industries with a shortage of skilled workers.

Pearson’s BTEC qualifications are future-focused and globally recognised, providing a key pipeline of talent for tomorrow’s workforce. They are built in partnership with employers, industry experts and Higher Education Institutions, ensuring they deliver the right skills and knowledge to those that take them.

In the UK, one in five working age adults has at least one BTEC, and more than 6 million BTEC qualifications have been awarded in the last decade.

This year, in schools and colleges in the UK, around:

  • 35,000 students will have completed a Level 3 BTEC in Business and Management
  • 34,000 in Sport
  • 28,500 in Applied Science
  • 19,500 in Health and Social Care
  • 16,500 in IT and Computing
  • 11,000 in Media
  • 8,000 in Art & Design
  • 7,500 for Engineering
  • 2000 for Construction

Employers and industry bodies from across the country celebrated BTEC and vocational students today: 

Lynn Beattie, Professional Standards Advisor at the Royal Aeronautical Society: "The Royal Aeronautical Society would like to congratulate all students collecting their BTEC results today! Engineering BTECs provide the skills and knowledge employers need and we wish you all the best for your future career in engineering!"

Katie Dryden-Holt, Vocational Skills Programme Manager at The Royal Society of Chemistry: "Congratulations to all those students receiving their BTEC results today. At the Royal Society of Chemistry, we see that BTECs provide a great basis of skills, knowledge and behaviours which prepare students for their future careers in the sector. They are a valuable qualification in their own right, and the flexible structure means that BTECs can also be tailored to meet employer needs."
