Those of you who managed to attend this session last month. We hope you enjoyed this session. If you weren’t able to attend this session, here are some answers to some of the frequently asked questions:

We advise that whilst this is good practice, it can be very time consuming to do this for many learners. We advise you could evidence this in other ways such as photo/videos/audio recordings or scripts. This might be less time consuming. If there is no possibly to add further evidence, then we would need to see an observation/witness statement.

To do this you will need to ask your exam officer to make you a basic Edexcel online account. Once you have this you will then need to log in and set up the authenticator app. If you have any technical difficulties with this, please contact the Pearson Helpdesk who will be able to provide you with technical assistance. You would then click on the link and log in which will download the resource.

Workbooks are fine to use. Please bare in mind however the courses are quite practical, and these might not be the best way for learners to present the evidence. When deciding on whether to use a workbook, think about what needs to be evidenced and the needs of learners in your class. When designing a workbook, you should always make enough room for learners to provide a detailed response to help them to obtain the highest possible grade.

For delivery and administration everything will be exactly the same as it always was. It is only the SV part of this and the way this is administrated that has changed. You will submit your sample via a secure method and will be emailed the report rather than it appearing on Edexcel online. The reason for this change is to make this qualification more flexible for you. You can claim at any point in the year and depending on report status and eligibility you will receive learner certificates 10-14 days after submission of grades.

Reminder: Change of SV Model for BTEC Home Cooking Skills

Did you know the SV Model for the BTEC Home Cooking Skills (Level 1 and 2) is moving from the BTEC Model to the WBL Model from September 2025? If you are a current centre of either Entry, Level 1, Personal Growth and Wellbeing or Workskills, these qualifications already follow this model so you can feel confident that all the qualifications in this space are aligned.

If you only currently deliver Home Cooking Skills or would like to find out further information on this quality assurance model, you can do so by referring to the Quality Assurance Handbook WBL guide.
