We hope you are looking forward to the end of term, a chance for you to reset your batteries ready to go again in September. It may well be we have a different party in power by then so it will be interesting to see how education continues to be developed by who ever is successful in the general election.

As always please reach out to us if you need any help or support.

Wales Reform

In terms of the 14-16 Welsh reform we continue to have positive dialogue with Qualification in Wales regarding the development of new qualifications for 2027, however there is nothing substantial to report to you at this time.

England Reform

We have put together a webpage to provide you with more information regarding the Post 16 English Reform

Learn more - The future of post-16 level 1, entry vocational qualifications in England

As you will be aware in England new standards are being developed for post 16 and adult Personal Social and Employability qualifications. The consultation for these qualification proposals has now ended and we await the outcome. Current outcomes being proposed by DfE include a Personalised PSEQ aimed at Entry 1-Level 1 and an Employability qualification aimed at Level 1 only.

Whilst we await the outcome the DfE have announced a review of the statutory guidance for RSHE. If you are a parent or teacher of KS3 and below we recommend you respond to the consultation so the DfE can hear your views.

Free Training Events

As June/July traditionally is the time of year some teachers at least have a little more time for CPD we are putting on some excellent free events to support you in your teaching. These events are suitable for both schools and colleges.

Up first is Teaching Entry 1-2 ICT in schools or colleges using BTEC Pre Vocational Studies. We are aware that some centres have been a little stuck on how to teach ICT since the removal of Functional Skills ICT at Entry 1-2 so we have developed some free training on how you can use the BTEC Pre Vocational qualification to teach your ICT provision at Entry 1-2. We have also mapped this to Functional Skills ICT so you can move your materials straight across.

The event is on 19 June 12.00-13.00 BST online and you can register below.

The second event we are putting on also promises to be a cracker. Titled empowering Learners : Building and developing effective employability and PSHE provision for all learners using BTEC Workskills & Personal Growth and Wellbeing qualifications this free in person event at Kirklees Colleges in Huddersfield. The event will take place on 24th June from 9.30-3pm and will help you to develop and run an effective Workskills or Personal Growth and Wellbeing Programme that makes the most of new skills focuses and needs. You can register for the event below.
