A statement from Pearson on 'pause and review' following the general election
Pearson believes that every young person should have access to high quality technical and vocational qualifications with clear progression pathways. To restore those progression pathways for tens of thousands of young people we urge the new Labour Government to implement a reversal of the previous government’s most recent qualification funding decisions and implement an urgent review of the Vocational Qualification reform programme.
We agree with the concerns of many in the sector that the reforms are being implemented before the impact of limiting learner choice at level 3 is fully understood. The current direction of travel is almost certain to mean a decrease in access and success at level 3, which would have a negative impact on the talent pipeline to higher level skills and jobs and to Higher Education.
We look forward to working with the new Labour Government to deliver the skills and knowledge needed to support progression and success for all learners.
