How will our partnership benefit BTEC Sport learners?

Our new suite of 2019 BTEC Nationals qualifications have been developed with UKAD, to include educational content on clean sport, safeguarding and integrity, helping to transform and educate the future sport workforce. The content in our specifications is reviewed by UKAD regularly, to ensure learners have relevant and up-to-date information whilst studying their courses.

Resources

We are pleased to share that UKAD has produced a set of 14 resources developed to support Anti-Doping identified content within the 2019 BTEC Nationals. These are complimentary and can be accessed through UKAD's Clean Sports Hub, providing specialist teaching and learning materials.

Teaching and learning styles vary for different tutors and students so these resources are presented to be used in a way which best supports a student's development, allowing for differentiated delivery and activities to support the needs of all learners. Content covered includes modules of work such as Illegal Drugs, Supplements, Ethical Values, Governance and Rules, and is specific to the BTEC Level 3 qualifications for Sport and Outdoor Activities, Sport, Fitness and Personal Training, Sports Excellence and Performance and sports Coaching and Development. The aim of these resources is to broaden student's knowledge and application of Anti-Doping.

"Education is a fundamental aspect of what we do at UKAD, playing a crucial role in the journey of both Athletes and Athelete Support Personnel (ASP). The development of these specific BTEC resources highlights our commitment to supporting both Athletes and the ASP of the future and ensuring that they have the knowledge and understanding they need when pursuing a career in sport."

Paul Moss, Head of Education at UK Anti-Doping

"Bringing specialist resources from UKAD to support centres in delivering this sector critical content within our qualifications is a positive and proactive step. Our learners are the workforce of the future, whilst many are learner-athletes on their dual career journey, many will form or influence Athlete Support Personnel."
