August 2026 teaching English update
Dear Colleagues
I hope you have had the chance to enjoy some rest and relaxation over the long break. I’m getting in touch to remind you of where to find support with results from 13 August; getting set for the next academic year; and to provide training reminders.
I hope that you and your students have a positive experience on results days and look forward to supporting you in the post-results period and the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Waiting for exam results can be nerve-wracking for many students. Our guide for students, parents and carers on understanding results and grades contains helpful information about what to expect on results day and where to find further support.

The question papers and mark schemes from the June 2026 exam series can be accessed on our website with your Edexcel Online login.
After each exam series I update the question summaries for every English qualification (GCSE, Int GCSE and A level). These help you to:
· Check which parts of questions are fixed and which vary across exam series
· Check which texts from our anthologies ‘came up’ in each series
· Check which unseen poems were used
· Check which unseen texts were used
· Check which themes/characters/narrative devices were assessed on set texts
· Pick questions from various past papers to create a new assessment for students for mocks or other internal assessments
· Check how command words are used in questions.
On 1 August 2026, we removed the padlocks from assessment material from 2025 in accordance with our publication policy.
