Hello, my name is Briony Brooks, and I am delighted to introduce myself as your new Media Subject Advisor. I am excited to build on the excellent work of those who have supported you previously and look forward to working with teachers and centres across our Media qualifications.
I am passionate about creative media education and the vital role it plays in developing learners' creativity, critical thinking, communication skills, and understanding of the world around them.
I have been teaching Creative Media since 2001, working in a diverse range of educational settings across the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, the United Arab Emirates, and the Russian Federation. During this time, I have taught in both schools and UK colleges, supporting learners studying a variety of academic and vocational media qualifications. Working across different countries, cultures and education systems has given me valuable insight into the opportunities and challenges teachers and students encounter, as well as the support needed to help learners achieve their full potential.
One of the reasons I am so passionate about Creative Media education is its unique ability to transform the way young people understand themselves and the world around them. Media helps students become critical thinkers, creative communicators and informed consumers and producers of content. Few subjects have such a direct connection to students' everyday lives, future careers and participation in society. I firmly believe that great Media teaching can be truly transformative, and I am committed to helping teachers feel confident, supported and inspired in delivering engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
As your Subject Advisor, I want to be an approachable and accessible source of support, whether you are new to teaching Media or have years of experience in the classroom.
I am excited to be joining Pearson and look forward to working closely with teachers to identify and address training needs, share ideas and resources, celebrate best practice, and continue to raise the profile of Media education. I am also keen to hear your feedback, suggestions and experiences regarding the qualifications I support. Your insights are invaluable in helping us understand what is working well, where further support may be needed, and how we can continually improve the experience for both teachers and learners.
I would love to connect with you, so please join the conversation through our Pearson qualification Facebook communities, where you can keep up to date with news, resources, events and discussions with fellow educators. Together, we can continue to build a strong and supportive Creative Media teaching community.
I look forward to working with you, hearing your ideas, and supporting you and your learners on your Media education journey.
