Summer 2021 exam support
Following Ofqual's decision to introduce changes to selected GCSE qualifications for the 2021 examination series due to the impact coronavirus has had on students’ education in the UK, we are making similar adjustments to certain International GCSE qualifications to ensure continuing parity. Here you’ll find the information you need to help you understand the changes to Pearson Edexcel International GCSE in Geography.

Please note that the changes outlined are correct at time of publication and apply to the 2021 exam series only. For students due to be examined in 2022, these changes do not apply.
Changes to Pearson Edexcel International GCSE in Geography examinations for 2021
The changes for the 2021 series are as follows:
- The requirement for students to conduct their own fieldwork has been removed.
- References of students’ own fieldwork have been removed from assessment.
- Section B: Geographical enquiry in Paper 1 and Paper 2, questions 4, 5 and 6, will be reviewed to include only unfamiliar contexts.
- Details of mark allocation and scaling applied will be published shortly.
