We understand that you may not be able to confirm exact learner names, so we only require you to submit the following information:

  1. your centre details
  2. qualification and unit of the test
  3. test manager contact details
  4. test date, time and venue
  5. estimated number of learners expected.

Important points to note

If more than one test sitting is scheduled on any given day or you are running tests at different test venues then you will have to submit Functional Skills paper-based test notification form for each test you undertake.

If, for any particular reason, the Functional Skills test is cancelled or rescheduled then please let us know at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled test by emailing vqtestinspections@pearson.com with the reason for cancelling or rescheduling the test.

Monitoring the test dates

The test inspection visits will be unannounced and we will be monitoring notified test dates against tests taken. We will follow up with you where we believe a test has been taken without notifying us.

On the day of a test, you may be contacted by one of our appointed test inspectors. The test inspector will be in possession of a test inspector identity letter which will allow you to verify their identity and give you an opportunity to call us directly to confirm that the inspector has been scheduled to visit your centre. You must allow the test inspector access to your test venue, and provide them with the information they require.

The test inspector will complete a test inspection visit report which will outline the findings from the test inspection visit. You will be issued with a copy of the test inspection visit report within five working days of the visit.

Where a test inspector is unable to gain access, or we have not been notified of a test cancellation or rescheduling of the test, we will follow this up with you.

Please ensure that test manager and invigilators are aware of this process and understand that they may receive an inspection visit.
