A levels Chemistry (2015)
Summer 2022 support
On 30 September, the Department for Education and Ofqual published the outcomes of the consultation on proposed summer 2022 adaptations, including optionality and advance information.
The consultation concluded that all of the proposals set out in the consultation document would be implemented.
For AS and A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, the following arrangements have been confirmed for summer 2022:
To make exams in 2022 less daunting, students will be told in advance some of the topic areas that will be included on the exam papers, helping them to manage their exam preparation. This information will be issued in the spring term to help students to focus their revision time.
However, the DfE have confirmed that if the impact of the pandemic worsens, this could be issued earlier in the academic year. We will update you on the timing of the advance information release once this has been confirmed.
We have developed guidance ahead of the publication of the advance information, to provide further detail on what the advance information will cover.
Download the advance information guidance.
Exam support materials
No additional exam support materials will be provided. However, students in 2022 will continue to have access to the Data Booklet for Chemistry; and both the Formula Sheet and Data Sheet for Physics that have been provided in previous exam series.
Practical Endorsement (CPAC)
The Practical Endorsement will be available to students taking A level in June 2022. The criteria for a Pass to be awarded remain the same: students must demonstrate competence across all CPAC statements. This competence must be demonstrated routinely and consistently, but the evidence may come from fewer than 12 practical activities.
Monitoring Visits will resume in January 2022, but are likely to be carried out remotely.
We will be supporting you and your students every step of the way with the 2022 summer arrangements.
