The A level Moderators' Toolkit lists the file formats that are accepted for A level Applied ICT. Students must ensure that their eportfolio only includes work in the listed file formats. Moderators will not be able to access content that requires the use of any other application.

You should take care when selecting software programs to ensure that they can output one of these file formats.

Microsoft Word and Publisher is not part of the Moderator’s Toolkit for A level. Work produced in .doc, .docx or .pub files should be converted to an accepted format before submission.

Moderators will have java runtime environment installed.

*PowerPoint should not be used to create the eportfolio or ebook.

Please ensure that all work is saved locally onto your CD, as links to live websites will not be accepted.

Additional guidance to help you choose software for particular units

Use web authoring software to create the index page for the eportfolio. 

Unit title Software and submission guidance
Unit 1 Web authoring software to construct the ebook. The ebook should be in html.
Unit 2 and 4 Web authoring software (index page of eportfolio); remaining evidence in html or pdf format.
Unit 5 Web authoring software for website. Web authoring software (index page of eportfolio); remaining evidence in html or pdf format.
Unit 8 Web authoring software (index page of eportfolio); remaining evidence in html or pdf format. Note that project management software is required for project plans (strand b), but all such files need to be converted to html or pdf format. Project management software is not an accepted file format.
Unit 10 Web authoring software, flash, video editing software for production of videos. The software must be able to produce stand-alone final products.
