After completing a BTEC HND in Telecommunication, Vibishnaa secured a place at the University of Hertfordshire, where he obtained a Bachelor in Engineering. Vibishnaa now works as a Senior Solution Engineer for a famous satellite operator company.
Ananth has completed a BTEC HND in Business, which provided him with the skills to top up to the final year at university. Ananth is now the Head of Human Resources in an e-commerce company. "Through my HND, I have gained in depth and practical knowledge in the field of business and HR. It made me stand out in the highly competitive corporate world".
Liam is a real BTEC success story, starting on a BTEC First before progressing through BTEC Level 3 and 4, and finally completing his BTEC HND in Construction and the Built Environment (Civil Engineering). During his time at Leeds College of Building, he has evolved from a shy, quiet student into an innovative, strategic thinker who regularly challenged and changed ineffective procedures at work, ran CPD training for his office, volunteered at environmental days and mentors young apprentices. Liam won the award for Outstanding BTEC Higher National Student of the Year in 2016.
His conduct and dedication to his studies was always exemplary and as a result of his hard work during a placement at AECOM, they offered him an Advanced Technical Apprenticeship, which he accepted. Liam was a fantastic mentor to his peers and produced countless ‘how to guides’ in order to make life easier for others and he delivers training sessions. What shines through is the undeniable fact that Liam genuinely enjoys helping people, both at college and work. He began working at BWB Consulting in February 2015 and continued with his college attendance one day a week, sponsored by BWB, while gaining on-the-job experience within their Leeds Transport and Infrastructure Design team. Liam has become a valued member of the team and a real asset to both BWB and to his industry.
Robyn studied HND Business and is now the HR Director FitzRoy, national Charity for adults with learning disabilities. This involves creating the people strategy for c1000 staff providing care to adults with learning disabilities. Business partner to the CEO, and accountable to the trustees for ensuring the people agenda reflects the values of the organisation.
Megan is currently doing a five year apprenticeship course where the first two years involve completing an HND. She is currently working on a maintenance project for the M25, under the procurement team and preparing and letting tenders and contracts to the supply chain.
Chris studied HND Computing and has been working at Pearson in various roles, he currently works in the threat management team which involves understanding a wide range of IT disciplines in order to fully understand an issue. He is able to do this because he has spent his career building on the solid foundations of his HND.
Employer success stories
In the summer of 2016, Hertford Regional College and the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation commissioned the development of a bespoke Pearson SRF Higher National qualification HND in Event and Stadium Management.
Students will attend face to face delivery of lectures, seminars and tutorials over three days per week. They will also participate in work placements at the stadium that average four hours per week over 23 weeks, including merchandise sales, hospitality and catering, VIP support, stewarding and crowd management.
College Success Stories
On 14 June 2017 the College of Policing announced a new bursary scheme for 2017/18 providing officers and staff in police forces in England and Wales with the opportunity to apply for funding of up to £3,000 per year (for up to two years) towards tuition fees to complete higher education studies.
North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College has worked in partnership with Pearson’s Bespoke and Customised Higher National development team to develop a new BTEC Higher National Certificate and Diploma in Policing, currently available to all approved centres in England for first teaching from September 2017.
