Summer 2022 results

Results day for GCSE was Thursday 25 August. You will be able to find out the results for your cohorts and see the grade boundaries, examiner reports and begin any post-results process, including our free Access to Scripts service.

ResultsPlus

ResultsPlus is a free online results analysis tool for teachers that gives you a detailed breakdown of your students’ performance in Edexcel exams. It provides the most detailed analysis available of your students’ performance and helps you to identify topics and skills where your students could benefit from further learning, helping them gain a deeper understanding of their subject.

Moderator Report (E9)

Your moderator writes a report to explain where it was necessary to adjust your centre’s marks. Where possible, your moderator advises you on how you could make improvements for future series.

You can find these on Edexcel Online. Please speak to your examinations officer if you don't have access to Edexcel Online.

Watch our short video on how to find your Moderator Report.

Principal Moderator/Examiner Report

The Principal Moderator or Examiner also compiles a report on how candidates performed in this year’s examinations. It provides general feedback and highlights good approaches that can be taken forward to future examination series.

You can find these reports on ResultsPlus. Please speak to your examinations officer if you don't have access to ResultsPlus.

Reviews of marking and moderation (RoMM)

If you're a centre with a concern about a student's results, you can use our post-results services. We have details about these services and their cost online.

Access to scripts

After the summer 2022 results are published in August, centres will be able to view and download scripts which have been marked online free of charge from our Self-Service Portal via Edexcel Online.

The Self-Service Portal will be available until the final post-results deadline for each exam series:

  • Thursday 25 August - Friday 16 December 2022

Customers should save and/or print any scripts they need for teaching and learning purposes before the post-results deadline.

Scripts do not have examiner annotation on them. The marked script allows teachers to evaluate how the student performed on particular questions in relation to what they have been taught; the Principal Examiner's Report and the exemplars that we make available demonstrate how the mark scheme is applied.

If scripts have been marked "traditionally" (i.e. not online), centres will have to request them via the Post Results section of Edexcel Online as in previous exam series.

These scripts will also be free of charge, but the final dates to request them are the same as the published JCQ Access to Scripts deadlines.

Preparing for 2023 assessments

On 10 May, it was announced that for the 2023 cohort Ofqual confirmed that the usual arrangements for NEA would return. This means that for our GCSE Music specification there is a need to provide two performances - one as part of an ensemble and one solo - with a combined duration of at least 4 minutes. Students will also need to compose two pieces of music - one to a brief released by us and one free composition - with a combined duration of at least 3 minutes. The exam will return to full content coverage.

The Department for Education and Ofqual will continue to monitor the path and impact of the pandemic and evaluate the delivery of arrangements this year, before finalising 2023 arrangements.

To help you prepare for the year ahead and to return to the specification requirements I am running an onine session on 13 September at 4pm.

The composition briefs were released on 1 September for assessment in 2023. We will be providing updated PAS and CAS forms to reflect the return to 2 performances and 2 compositions.
