Hello, my name is Vicky Wood and I am pleased to introduce myself as your new Subject Advisor for Maths and Statistics (UK). I will be working closely with the wider maths team to support teachers in UK centres in delivering Pearson Edexcel qualifications in Mathematics and Statistics. My colleague Mark Heslop, will be supporting centres outside the UK.

I am an experienced teacher of maths with an MSc in Pure Mathematics and a deep love of all things mathematical. Prior to joining Pearson, I worked in a mixed state secondary school for nine years delivering maths at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. I also had a pastoral responsibility as Head of Year for a cohort of 200 Key Stage 3 pupils, a challenging role that gave me a huge amount of insight into the barriers that young people can face and how educators and trusted adults can best support them. I am passionate about all aspects of inclusion.

My primary focus in the role of Subject Advisor is to represent the teacher and student voice, ensure accessibility for all students and provide support to teachers that empowers them to confidently deliver our qualifications in a way that meets the needs of their individual learners and supports teacher and student wellbeing.
