Key dates for summer assessment

As we move towards the summer assessment window, this update will draw your attention to the relevant dates for the assessment of ICT qualifications.

Please be aware that internal centre deadlines may also apply, so check with your exams officer.

GCSE ICT

If you'd like to register your learners for an examination or submit controlled assessment in the summer assessment window, the deadline for registration is 21 March 2013.

Unit 1 - Living in a Digital World examination
The Unit 1 exam will take place in the morning of 6 June 2013. The unit code for registering is 5IT01.

Unit 2 - Using Digital Tools - Controlled Assessment (CAB)
The deadline for submission of centre marks and work to the moderator is 15 May 2013. As you prepare, our Moderation Guidance document will walk you through the process. 

The CABs available for assessment in this session are May 2011 – Get Up, Get Moving and May 2012 - Community Spirit.

The unit code for registering is 5IT02. The May 2011 CAB – Get Up, Get Moving is option B and the May 2012 CAB – Community Spirit is option C. Please ensure you view the moderator’s toolkit before submitting your samples.

Unit 3 – Exploring Digital Design examination
The Unit 3 exam will take place in the afternoon of 12 June 2013. The unit code for registering is 5IT03.

Unit 4 - Controlled Assessment (CAB) – Creating Digital Products
The deadline for submission of centre marks and work to the moderator is 15 May 2013. As you prepare, our Moderation Guidance Document will walk you through the process. The unit code for registering is 5IT04. Please ensure you view the moderator’s toolkit before submitting your samples.

If you’re having any problems with Edexcel Online (EOL), please contact your centre’s exams officer.

A level Applied ICT

The final date for on-time registration for A level Applied ICT is 21 March 2013.

Unit 3 – The Knowledge Worker (6953)

Unit 7 – Using Database Software (6957)

Unit 9 – Communication and Networks (6959) of GCE Applied ICT.

Pre-release material will be available to download from the GCE Applied ICT page from 9 April 2013 for 6957 and 6959 and 16 April 2013 for 6953.

The examination windows for these three units are as follows:

Unit 3 – The Knowledge Worker (6953) is designated over a five-day window, between Monday 20 May and Friday 24 May 2013. The examination is two and a half hours long and must be taken in one sitting during the designated five-day window.

For Unit 7 – Using Database Software (6957) and Unit 9 – Communication and Networks (6959) there are 10 hours of supervised work, with the candidates performing a special task. The designated window for these units is between Monday 6 May 2013 and Friday 24 May 2013.

You should take some time to read the GCE Applied ICT ICE document which provides guidance on conducting the exams. It contains an examination schedule form which should be completed and returned to us at least four weeks before the window begins.

For coursework units, the deadline for submission of centre marks and work to the moderator is 15 May 2013. As you prepare, our Moderation Guidance Document will walk you through the process.  

DiDA

The deadline for the submission of centre marks for D101, D201, D102 and D202 (unaccredited) is 15 May 2013.

The deadline for the submission of centre marks for OSCA accredited D101, D201, D102 and D202, and Units 3, 4 and 5 at all levels is 15 June 2013.
