General guidance

Internal Standardisation If several teachers are marking, it's essential that you carry out internal moderation before you finalise the marks in order to ensure that the rank order is correct.
The sample

The sample is pre-selected and can be identified by:

  • an asterisk on the OPTEMS mark sheet
  • a tick on the Edexcel Online candidate list.

You also need to send the work of the highest- and lowest-scoring candidates if they're not part of the requested sample.

The moderator

The name and address of the moderator can be found:

  • on a moderator address label we send to your examinations officer
  • on Edexcel Online.
Submitting marks

You should submit your students' total raw marks (not grades) to Edexcel:

  • by filling in the OPTEMS form and sending us the top copy; or
  • online via Edexcel Online.

You should enclose students' total raw marks (not grades) with the sample you send to the moderator using:

  • the second copy of the OPTEMS form; or
  • a copy of the Edexcel Online page with submitted marks.

A score of zero should only be used if a candidate has submitted work that is found to meet none of the assessment criteria. An X should be used for any candidate who is absent.

Final date for submitting marks and samples 15 May 2013
