The Secretary of State for Education has accepted Professor Mark E Smith's independent recommendation that first teaching of new A level Geography specifications across all awarding bodies should be delayed until September 2016.
This decision means that:
- first teaching of new AS and A level Geography specifications will be from September 2016, not September 2015 as planned
- first examinations for new AS Geography specifications will be in summer 2017
- first examinations for new A level Geography specifications will be in summer 2018
- first teaching of new A level and AS Geography specifications will be at the same time as the new reformed GCSE Geography qualifications from 2016.
In the meantime, there are no plans to change our current Edexcel AS Geography (8GE01) or Edexcel A level Geography (9GE01) specifications.
All the best,
Jon
