We have completed the marking of student scripts from the November 2024 exam series.

Senior examiners are now reviewing the quality of student work over a range of marks and recommending grade boundaries based on all the available evidence. As in the summer, for additional assurance, this will include a comparison of the quality of work (the performance standard) on the 2.0 specification with the national performance standard exemplified by our established 1EN0 specification.

The grade boundaries proposed by senior examiners may vary each exam series. Some variations in the level of demand of assessment are inevitable, particularly as we continually review the performance of our assessments to improve accessibility. Such improvements are aimed at enabling students to access questions appropriately, enhance their experience and build confidence. Equally, the ability of the cohort will vary from series to series and grade boundaries may be different to secure fair and appropriate grading standards.

In 2025, there will be opportunities for teachers to gain further insights into awarding approaches.

We wish you and your students the very best with their November 2024 exam results and are here to support you with any queries you have in the meantime via teachingenglish@pearson.com.

With best wishes
