February 2021 Construction subject update
Here is the February 2021 update for Construction, which focuses on the current status, the consultation and the adaptations available.
Ofqual consultation on alternative arrangements for summer 2021 has closed on the 29 January. We expect to know more about the outcome from week beginning 22 February. You can access the consultation document from the link below:
Once we know more from the consultation outcome, we will be able to provide further guidance and support.
Ofqual`s consultation also covers T Level assessment in summer 2021.
Confirmed adaptations in the Construction sector
Reduced internal unit assessments applies to the following qualifications:
- BTEC Nationals in Construction and the Built Environment suite (RQF)
- BTEC Nationals in Construction and the Built Environment suite (QCF)
- BTEC Firsts in Construction and the Built Environment
Depending on the size of the qualification, a reduction of 1 or 2 internal unit assessment can be reduced. See the adaptation document in the link below for details of this adaptation and how it applies to specific qualifications.
The reduced internal assessment will apply to learners certificating in summer 2021, and learners who registered in September 2020, and who will be certificating in summer 2022.
Exams and external assessment in summer 2021
In light of the information released by DfE and Ofqual as part of their joint consultation on 15 January 2021, we can confirm that the summer examinations for BTEC will also not go ahead.
The consultation outcome, which is expected from 22 February, will inform any alternative arrangements. We will provide guidance and support accordingly.
