Project qualifications update September 2017
Pearson has been reviewing the full range of qualifications we offer in order to ensure they align with changing customer needs and support Pearson's business aims. As part of this, we have reviewed the full suite of Project qualifications.
Following this review we regret to inform you that we have decided to withdraw the Level 1 Foundation and Level 2 Higher Project qualifications. As candidate numbers have been declining we have decided to withdraw from this market to ensure we can better support the level 3 qualification, which is growing in popularity. We will extend the current specification by one year to allow schools the opportunity to start their last 2 year cohort in September 2017, and the final assessment window will be in Summer 2019.
We have decided retain and extend the Level 3 Extended Project Qualification by three years. There will be no changes to the content or assessment requirements. This decision has been based on the increasing market size, the opportunities that have arisen due to the decoupling of AS, and the reduction of coursework in A level qualifications.
Letters will soon be sent to all centres who take our Project qualifications informing them of these decisions.
We are currently planning to increase resources available to support the Extended Project qualification, as well as organising training events in the coming months.
