Pearson Level 1 qualifications prominent in 2016 Key Stage 4 performance tables
Our Level 1 vocational qualifications make up over half of the DfE's list of approved non-GCSE qualifications to be recognised in 2016 performance tables.
The list, published in December, affects learners in England starting two-year courses in September 2014. It includes 30 Pearson BTEC standalone Level 1 qualifications, across 13 subject sectors - more than half the total list - confirming the high quality of our Level 1 vocational qualification provision.
Level 1 vocational qualifications fill an important role for schools, providing a more manageable and often more motivating alternative for learners who need staged progression towards Level 2 learning outcomes. By offering Level 1 qualifications in your school curriculum, you can help ensure that every learner has a programme of study suitable to their needs and a qualification outcome that recognises their attainment appropriately.
Among the factors influencing the Department for Education’s decisions were the presence and strength of progression routes on to higher level qualifications.
Below is the full list of the Level 1 BTEC qualifications that will be recognised in the 2016 tables.
