As a UK and international awarding organisation, we’re working with Ofqual, UK Department for Education and JCQ, as well as other UK and international exam boards, governments, and universities around the world, to confirm our approach to summer 2021 so students receive the outcomes they deserve.

JCQ guidance for summer 2021 arrangements
JCQ have proivded a variety of guidance, support documents and templates to help with the administration of summer 2021 assessments.
12 July
Ofqual and the Department for Education published a joint consultation on proposed changes to the assessment of GCSEs, AS and A levels in 2022. This consultation closes at 11:45pm on 1 August 2021
16 June
On the 16 of June, Ofqual published the outcome of the 2022 NEA and field work consultation. This set out their proposals to carry forward the arrangements which were put in place in 2021 to take account of public health restrictions that could have had an impact on the way the assessments in these qualifications could be conducted.

On 8 June Ofqual published their Statutory Guidance: appeals under the GQAA regulatory framework.
On 8 June 2021 JCQ published their Guide to appeals processes, Summer 2021 series for GCSE and A level qualifications.
14 May 2021
On 14 May 2021, Ofqual confirmed that the adjustments that were due to be applied in summer 2021 will also apply to the autumn 2021 exam series for GCSE.
4 May 2021
On 4 May Ofqual confirmed that students who receive a teacher assessed grade this summer will be eligible to take GCSE, AS or A level exams in the same subject in autumn 2021.

On Friday 26 March the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) released comprehensive guidance on the process for deriving grades this summer.

On 25 February the Department for Education and Ofqual confirmed arrangements for how this year’s GCSE, AS and A level results will be graded and issued to students.
We're now working through the detail of these arrangements to understand what they mean for schools, colleges, teachers and students, including those taking our international general qualifications.
