HN Online was developed by Pearson to facilitate blended delivery of BTEC Higher National qualifications, covering 30 guided learning hours of critical course content in each unit. HN Online is currently available for HNs in Business with Engineering coming in September 2020.

HN Online will cover four units for BTEC Higher Nationals in Engineering, which are mandatory and common across the pathways:

  • Engineering Design
  • Engineering Maths
  • Engineering Science, and
  • Managing a Professional Engineering Project.

The learning materials included in HN Online allow students to engage with critical course content via a personalised learning path, enabling you to focus on high value face-to-face teaching and assignment support.

Students at Sunderland College attend in-class sessions every three weeks and spend the rest of their time studying online, with an option for face-to-face meetings with the tutor every week.

Co-created with you

We decided to develop HN Online for HNs in Engineering as it is a very popular and versatile qualification, highly recognised by the industry. This presented an opportunity for us to co-create with both centres and employers to develop engaging and informative content for HN Online.

Northern Regional College, which has experience in delivering our Engineering qualifications are involved in our authoring and development process to co-create one unit with us.

We are also collaborating with centres who will support in the validation of material, by reviewing the HN Online content and its application within blended learning context.
