What are the amendments?

Unit 1 Construction Principles

Updates to knowledge and understanding of new materials and technologies associated with those materials, such as new concrete mixes, smart roofs, green/living roofs. How developments in manufacturing technologies may assist the efficiency and sustainability of construction processes.


Unit 2 Construction Design

A greater emphasis on Digital Design practices and competencies including DFMA, the considerations of offsite manufacture such as logistics, preparatory work to receive prefabricated elements, communication requirements including types of information and specifications from manufacturers
An update from CAD to wider digital design knowledge and design technologies are covered such as BIM, coding, VR, AR and others.


Unit 18 Building Information Modelling

Clarification on the expected depth of knowledge for BIM (Building Information Modelling) concepts and references to it’s use in Retrofit as well as new build.

Removal of unnecessary information and content area D4


Unit 26 Conversion, Adaptation and Maintenance of Buildings

Updates to reflect the growing importance of Retrofit as a discipline including it’s role in the Netzero agenda.
