The results

Please note that we cannot issue results over the phone. You should obtain results from your exams officer.

If you have any queries about special consideration and/or special requirements, please contact us via the Pearson Support Portal.

Finding the raw marks and grade points.

The raw marks and grade points are available in Edexcel Online.  You won't have access to these so please ask your Exams Officer to follow this route:

1. BTEC 4. Choose June 2019 series (leave the programme and unit fields blank)
2. External Assessment 5. Select the unit you are interested in (tick in the left hand column)
3. View Results by Assessment booking 6. Choose 'Export results'

You will get a csv file with the information you want.

The raw mark is in the column headed 'Score'.  The grade point is in the column headed UMS.

Grade boundaries

Unit results for BTEC Level 3 National qualifications are reported on a 5 point grade scale: Distinction (D), Merit (M), Pass (P), Near Pass (N) and Unclassified (U). Raw marks from the external units are converted into points based on performance in the assessment. The points scores available for each external unit at grade boundaries are as follows:

{{invalidUserName}}
{{invalidUserMail}}
{{errorMessage}}

For the Near Pass, Pass and Merit criteria on the externally assessed units, points are awarded on a sliding scale between the grade boundaries based on the number of raw marks achieved by each learner to reflect the strength of the performance within a grade.

Raw marks from Component 3 in the BTEC Level 1/2 Tech Award in Enterprise are awarded points based on performance in the assessment. We automatically calculate the points for the external component once the external assessment has been marked and grade boundaries have been set.

The points available at each grade in the external component is as follows:

Analysing the results

ResultsPlus is a free online results analysis tool for teachers that gives you a detailed analysis of your learners' performance in externally assessed BTEC National units. You can also see how your learners have performed on every question in Unit 3 and on each Assessment Focus in units 2, 6 and 7.

Lead examiners' reports are a useful way of understanding the standard that has been applied. You can see exemplar student answers with examiner comments and tips.  Lead examiner reports are available in ResultsPlus

Access to Scripts

Once May/June 2019 results are published in August, you will be able to view and download scripts which have been marked online free of charge from our self-service portal.

Availability

The self service portal will be available until the final Access to Script deadline - 13 December 2019.  You should save and/or print any scripts you need before this date.

You can access free Access to Scripts for the May/June 2019 exam series from:
• 14 August for Level 3 units
• 21 August for Component 3 (Tech Award) and Unit 9 (BTEC Firsts)

Access To Scripts is not available for Level 2 on-demand tests.

The Portal can only be accessed by Edexcel Online users who have the Exam Viewer profile ticked on Edexcel Online. Your exams officer gives teachers access to Exam Viewer. Please note that these scripts do not contain examiners' annotations.

If scripts have been marked "traditionally" (ie not online), your exams officer will have to request them via the Post Results section of Edexcel Online as in previous exam series.  These scripts will also be free of charge. The 13 December deadline also applies to scripts which have been traditionally marked.  Some scripts that have been modified, used extra paper or certain inks may have been traditionally marked even when that unit is available on the script portal.

Candidate consent

Candidate consent is required before requesting script copies, as per section 6.2.1 of the JCQ's Post-results services guide "Prior written permission must be obtained from any candidate where the centre intends to request his/her script(s)".

There is a candidate consent form in Appendix B of the JCQ Guide.

Reviews of Marking and Moderation (formerly Enquiries About Results)

This is a formal procedure which cannot be done over the phone. Please speak to your exams officer if you wish to proceed with a Review of Marking and Moderation (RoMM).  RoMM services include:

  • Service 1 - a clerical check. (£11.30)
  • Service 2 - a review of marking. (£40.40)
  • Service P2 - a priority review of marking available if a Level 3 candidate’s place in higher education is dependent on the outcome. (£55.90)

Candidate permission

If you would like to apply for a review of marking you will need the permission of the candidate who must be made aware that marks can be reduced as well as raised.

Please remember that the last date for us to receive applications for reviews of marking services is 19 September 2019. The deadline for requesting a priority service 2 review of Level 3 marking is 22 August 2019.

You can find the full list of fees on the fees page.  If a grade is changed following a review, there will be no fee.
